Kawartha mayor works to improve council response to deputations

Kawartha Lakes Mayor Doug Elmslie is hoping to make improvements when it comes to deputation etiquette.

Before the Tuesday, Feb. 6 council meeting drew to a close, Elmslie told councillors he planned to meet with Chief Administrative Officer Ron Taylor and city clerk Cathie Ritchie to strategize ways to streamline deputations during Committee of the Whole meetings.

These meetings are designed to present information and for discussion. Decisions are made at regular meetings. However, in many cases, deputations contain “one side of an issue” and action is necessary, he said.
