Kawartha Lakes council joins opposition to conservation authority mergers

The city calls on the province to maintain local, independent, municipally governed, watershed-based conservation authorities to ensure strong local representation in decisions impacting residents.

Under Bill 68, Kawartha Conservation would become part of the Eastern Lake Ontario Regional Conservation Authority, which covers roughly 16,000 square kilometres - three times the size of Prince Edward Island.
